New York Nails

Hello :) Tomorrow morning I will be on my way to New york for my 21st so I decided to do a New York theme nail art. The lines are quite wobbly and wonky as I am quite excited and couldn't keep a steady hand! Hope you like them anyway!

Have a good week, byeee! xxxx

Cosmic Nails

Another nail design that you have all seen before, the cosmic nail. I love this design as it is so simple to do and so effective. I like how most colours work well on the black and you don't have to be that neat! I love seeing different ways that people do cosmic nails, so if you have done some of your own, let me know I'd love to see them all :) xx

Also let me know if you'd like to see a tutorial on how I created mine. xxx

Aztec Nails

Tribal print has been everywhere the past few seasons and I've seen a lot of variations of the print in nail art. These are quite a simple design, mainly stripes and dots, although I did have trouble painting the little triangles as my brushes are not thin enough, (next purchase: thinner brushes!). These would work great with any base colour, but I decided to use this 'Tiffany' Blue colour as I have been wearing a lot of pinks and nudes lately and fancied a change.

Let me know what you think :) Hope you've all had a great weekend. xx

Colour Choices

I decided not to do any close ups as the triangles are quite messy and look better from far away, hah!

I will be investing in a new camera when I return from New York, so bare with me and the rubbish quality photos for now :)

Half Moon Manicure Tutorial

Hello :) This is my first tutorial on how to do a half moon manicure. Its a very simple and I'm sure everyone already knows how to do it but I thought I'd practice making tutorials and decided to start off with something simple :) Hope you like x

You will need: A base coat and top coat, 2 nail polishes - colours of your choice and french manicure template stickers (or any curved stickers really!).

Step 1: Prepare your nail with a base coat. My current favourite is Sally Hansens' Hard as wraps polish, I don't think it's made to be a base coat but I'm trying to grow my nails longer and this seems to be working :)

Step 2: Using the colour you would like the 'half moon' part of the nail to be, paint the bottom part of your nail or the whole nail, it's up to you (I prefer to just do half as you are only going to see a tiny bit at the bottom anyway).

As you can tell by my image it doesn't have to be that neat, as long as the bottom part looks okay it doesn't matter.

Step 3: Once the bottom layer is completely dry, stick your sticker at the bottom of the nail, depending on how big you want your half moon to be, move the sticker higher or lower along the nail. I only wanted small half moons so placed the sticker right at the bottom of the nail.

Step 4: Then you can paint on your top coat. I decided to do opposite colours on each hand as I couldn't decide which way round I wanted the colours.

Step 5: Wait for the top coat to completely dry and apply a second coat if needed. Once the second layer is dry you can carefully peel off the stickers.

Step 6: Apply a top coat and you're done :)

Alice in Wonderland Inspired Nails.

Hello :) I was unsure of whether to make a nail blog but after the lovely comments on my last post I decided to keep blogging! Thank you for your comments and advice. x

I have just completed this Alice in Wonderland design, the colours or styles don't really match. I'm not sure if I like them or not. What do you think?

Old Romantic - Valentines Nails

Valentines day is upon us and as I am quite the romantic, I have created two Valentines nail designs. The first a more simple and subtle look, with white lace french tips and small pink hearts.

The idea for the second design came from a bracelet my boyfriend had bought for me for Christmas. It featured a small red love heart with a scroll across the front that said 'I love you'. The scroll that I painted onto my thumb nail however, was far too small to be able to recreate that, so I settled for the word 'love'. For the base I used Smooch nail polish in '7-Chic' that I featured in my last post and a pale pink shade and created stripes.

The text is supposed to look like 'tattoo' text (if there is such a thing!) as I thought that it would fit in well with the love heart and scroll.

Hope you enjoy these nails, and happy Valentines xxxx

Pink & Gold Champagne - Glitter Nails

These are not actually my own nails, they belong to my mum. She has been my 'guinea pig' when it comes to testing out new colours and designs.

This design came from the purchase of a new nail polish. There is a make up/beauty shop in the shopping centre where I work called 'All Wellan Good'. They always have a huge selection of nail polish and this particular time, they had a new brand of polish in store. The brand was called 'Smooch', I had never heard of this brand before and decided to buy some polish and test it out.

I bought the 'Smooch' nail polish in '7 - Chic'. Although you cannot see the colour clearly in the image, it is a very pale shade of cream.

'7 - Chic'

I used this pale cream shade as the base coat (it needed two coats) and finished with layers of Claire's Accessories' gold/pink glitter polish. I then added on gems to the ring finger and thumbs.

The gold and pinks together reminded me of pink champagne and my mum was very happy with the results!

Good morning starshine, the earth says hello!

My name is Mellissa Roberts and I am 20 years old, from South Wales (UK). My main interest in life is art and I also have a keen interest in nail art. I have recently discovered nail blogs and the huge number of talented nail artists in the world. I decided that I could try to create my own nail art and document my designs and thoughts into a blog, which hopefully, people will read and like.

Nail art, at the moment is a hobby. I hope to one day make it into a career, until then wish me luck and let me know what you think.
